English Language Development

English Language Development (ELD) refers to instruction created specifically for students learning English to develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English.

This additional language support aims to provide systematic English language instruction, using Oregon's English Language Proficiency Standards. Please visit our ELD page for additional information about the programs we offer.

Elementary Strings

All Grade 5 students in Springfield Public Schools have the opportunity to participate in an extra-curricular ensemble of beginning orchestra. Enrollment happens annually during the month of September. Students may opt to learn violin, viola, cello, or bass and no prior experience is expected. These ensembles meet twice a week beginning the last week of September through June. Students will participate in the All Elementary Extravaganza Concert held in May. Affordable instrument rental is available. If you are interested in participating in our program please contact our music teacher and/or your child’s teacher.
